I was running PGP Desktop Professional version 10.0.1.4020 with a Perpetual License purchased from PGP on a Vista 32 bit ultimate. The operating system became unstable when doing some unrelated activities. So I bought a new hard drive and began doing a clean install of the o/s on the new drive and reinstalling everything. I have the original installer and the license emails from PGP. However I cannot get the software to authenticate the license. The initial licensing screen asks for my email address, when that fails it then asks for name, company, and license key. I have the name and license key but never entered a company name as I use the software for personal use. The option for a reminder email seems to fail, presumably symantec took down the pgp servers.
I can access the old hard drive and all the files through a USB connection. I need some assistance getting the software to authenticate the license. I originally had puchased version 9, but got a maintenance upgrade to version 10.
I have looked at the current offerings from Symantec in the encryption field and am not impressed enough to buy new, especially since I have a perpetual license from PGP for a program that did what I need.
