There used to be a "Home" license for PGP Desktop, which was more modestly priced than the corporate version(s). I can no longer find this. Has this product been discontinued?

Encrypting Large Volume of Data
I need a solution
We have been using PGP Desktop / Netshare to encrypt sensitive data for several years. The volume of shared data (on an AD member server) and the number of installed desktop clients (XP/Win7) is steadily growing and we have begun to experience serious performance issues whenever we have to re-encrypt. With close to half a Terabyte of data, re-encrypting the shared folder takes so long it has to be done overnight. We do not have PGP Universal Server (now Symantec Encryption Management Server), although this is under consideration for next year. As more business units realize the need for encryption, we will easily be into multiple terabytes within a couple of years. Building on what we already have, is there a better, more efficient way to encrypt large volumes of data? Thanks.

PGP Desktop: Error Messages: The server key for the PGP Global Directory could not be obtained.
I need a solution
When I try to use the 'Keys > Publish to Global Directory' PGP Global Directory assistant, it responds with:
'The server key for the PGP Global Directory could not be obtained.'
The last time I reported this, Tom replied that this happens rarely. ( https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/pgp-desktop-server-key-pgp-global-directory-could-not-be-obtained )
But since it happens consistently for me, then I submitted an 'improvement opportunity' where I rewrote the text for the 'currently empty' error box for you, in order to make it as easy as possible for you to implement.
I'm disappointed that six months later, nothing has changed. (PGP Desktop has changed from 10.1.1 to 10.2.1 in that time...) The revised text has not been added, and the error box is just as totally unhelpful as before.
Thank goodness that "Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers."

PGP Netshare does not prompt for passphrase
I need a solution
Out of everyone using PGP Desktop/Netshare, only one user is experiencing this problem.
Operating system is Windows 7 32bit - Version of PGP is 10.2 MP3 (I have the exact same setup on my system however I am the admin of the Netshare).
When the user accesses the network location where the encrypted folder is located, he can see the lock icon on the folder but when he double clicks to access it, the folder opens without prompting for the passphrase. His credentials are not cached. When he then tries to open a file, (eg, a Word document), Word opens and asks what kind of document it is (formatting) - it shows gibberish.
We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and also generating new keys but the issue still remains. Is there anything else I can look at?

ISSUE 1:
email from apple mail is decrypted in viewer without requiring passphrase!!! how IS THIS POSSIBLE??
i have retain passphrase set to never (although it always to seems to reset to 3seconds??? issue 1b.)
even after PURGING CACHES and restarting, and canceling all prompts to enter passphrases, an email dragged into pgp viewer WILL STILL DECRYPT, AND THEN ALERTS POP SAYING 'ERROR NO PGP CONTENT', EVEN THOUGH THE 'CONTENT' IS BEING PLAINLY DISPLAYED IN THE VIEWER.
THIS IS BROKEN/BUGGY/SERIOUSLY WRONG APP BEHAVIOUR.
someone please explain. i searched my system keychain on the 'off chance' that pgp decided to cookie my passphrase or something like that.. but could find nothing but website passes (which is good)....
so i am very perplexed and concered. do others have this experience???
ISSUE 2:
email containing pgp ciphertext. when the whole cipher block is cut and pasted into viewer, usually the first line or so of text is missing in the cleartext decrypt.. also, attachments (photos, files, etc) do not show up properly, usually not at all.
HOWEVER
when the SAME email is dragged from mail to viewer, it decrypts and displays properly--
THIS IS BUGGY/HIGHLY UNUSABLE BEHAVIOUR. WHY WHY WHY?? after so many iterations is this product still so fickle??
making me have to move and resize windows so i can juggle and drag an email into viewer instead of right-click 'decrypt' is insanely annoying and frustrating...
ISSUE 3:
WHAT does 'purge caches' do if the passphrases are ALWAYS still there after purge, even after restart...????
ANY INFO ON ANY OF THIS, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST WOULD BE MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED.
symantec better get on the ball here, the encryption game is gong to break wide open and they can be at the front of the line, but not if they keep letting this product be so obtuse. they will get scooped. handily.
AND, just to be fully bitchy, the navigation of this website is STILL really aggravating. links for login and discussions and posting are SO hard to find... i know i'm not the first to make this 'observation'... it's definitely the third time i've been forced to mention it.

Symantec Desktop Email Encryption - "ssl warning"
I need a solution
I have an email client that is set up to make an SSL connection to the mail server.
After installing Symantec Desktop Email encryption, I get a warning that my client is trying to make an "SSL connection" to the server and the message does not send and sits in the outbox.
This may sound a little stupid but really I want Symantec Desktop Email encryption to only do the PGP and let the mail server do the SSL connection.
I have tried changing a lot of settings and have read the manual but I am still missing something with getting this working.
BTW it works fine for collecting mail, it is sending mail that has the issue.
Can someone help me with this.

PGP Blocked Error message
I need a solution
Office uses PGP Desktop 10.2 in a server 2008r2 Terminal Server environment. PGP Program is enabled only in one users profile. Other users are receiving multiple PGP Blocked messages although the program is not enabled in their profiles. Following message format is what is received but recipients do report receiving sent message. Since the program is not enabled there is not a log file detailing the issue. How do we resolve these error messages from being received.

I would like to ask did anybody have a problem with verification of certificate?
When I receive an email which is signed by certificate i have error. In my log is:
Error MAPI Proxy: ..\shared\OCconnection.cpp : Line 135 : Echo::oc::OCconnection::SetServerInfo2
Error Email ServerName is empty
Error Email Received OCC error ecBadParameter PGPError: (bad parameters)
and all attachments are changed to unknown file.
I use stand alone client 10.3 MP3 on Windows 7 64 bit.

Outloot crashes when PGP destop is active

Hi all...
Firstimer here so be gentle with me 
We are using windows XP, Outlook 2010 and the PGP desktop.
PGP Desktop is active. The user sets up a meeting. The invitations are sent. The attendees reply.
- If they reply with no message then Outlook is OK and continues.
- If they reply with a message for the owner then outlook locks\freezes and has to be closed using Task Manager.
PGP Desktop in deactivated. Outlook fuctions as normal.
What have I missed... Can someone help and point me in the right direction to resolve this behaviour ?

Is it possible to use a PGP Netsahre to hold a GIT respository?
My experience is that it works on the volume if not encrypted, but GIT objects to invalid files when encrypted. Is there a solution to this problem?

Hard drive crash - reinstalled - cant see my other partitions now
I need a solution
Hi Guys.
I was using Symantec Encryption Desktop on my latop with 3 partitions on my HDD.
My OS became corrupt and I could boot, i had to reinstall Windows.
Now that ive reinstalled windows, I see my other 2 partitions as unformatted drives.
When i click on them Windows says "you need to format the disk before you can use it.
All my data is on these 2 drives. I reinstalled Symantec Encryption Desktop, but the software doesnt see these 2 drives under the Disk Properties option.
How do I unencrypt these drives and retrive my info?

PGP server v Hosted Exchange
I need a solution
We currently offer PGP desktop to about 6 of our workstations, but want to roll this out across the company (25 or so WS). We are about to move our exhange server to a hosted solution and virtulise our servers.
Would the PGP Server product be more efficient (oughtright cost/admin overhead) than individual workstation instalations?
We use win7 desktop enviromnents with Outllook 2010 and the current AD server is SBS2011

I need a solution
I have version 9.0.2[Build2424] on my laptop and recieve files from various sources which I can happily decrypt. However I would like an assitant to be able to encyrpt files and was wondering is there any gudies I can follow to do this? As Ive installed PGP Destop on her laptop but I'm unsure of what to do next as I need to share my key.
Any help would be great.

No Decrypted PGP Msgs in Outlook

I am running Outlook 2013 on Win 7 along with Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.0 MP3 (Build 9307). I am able to send PGP encrypted emails via Outlook/Exchange perfectly. A notification box displays when I highlight an encrypted email in my inbox, but the content is not decrypted. I can drag the message to the PGP Viewer and the email is decrypted successfully.
